Privacy policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
This privacy policy describes how Kampus Connect("we", "us") collects, uses, and stores information when you use the Kampus Connectmobile application (the "app"). We publish this document on www.kampusconnect.app for easy access. If anything here conflicts with a notice we show you at collection time, the more specific notice applies.
Who we are
Kampus Connect is a student-facing app for discovering instructors, browsing and submitting course-teacher reviews, and related community features. The app relies on technical providers described below.
Information we collect in the app
Accounts and sign-in
The app uses Supabase for authentication and backend services. When you create an account or sign in, Supabase processes credentials such as your email address and password (stored only in hashed form suitable for authentication), session tokens, and related security metadata. See Supabase's privacy policy for how they handle data on their platform.
Profile and onboarding
After sign-up, we collect profile information you enter so the app can work as intended: for example your name, university identifier, academic term, department, and email. This is stored in our database alongside your account and used to personalize the experience, attribute content you add (such as teacher requests), and enforce product rules (for example limits on reviews).
Reviews and public content
When you submit a review, we store the rating, optional tags and written comment, optional course association, and related metadata. Reviews are associated with your account in our systems so you can edit or delete them where the product allows, and so we can enforce integrity rules (such as daily limits). Other users typically see reviews without your account name; you may post as an anonymous reviewer or choose to show a display name. Even when a review appears anonymous to others, we retain the link to your account internally for the purposes above. Aggregated statistics (for example average ratings) may be derived from review data.
Optional community features (such as reactions on reviews or reviewer badges) store interactions and scores tied to your account so they can be shown in the app according to product rules.
Teacher and course requests
If you suggest a new teacher or link a teacher to a course, we store the information you submit (such as name, department, and course details) together with your account so requests can be reviewed and merged into shared directories.
Feature requests and in-app support
If you send a feature idea or similar message through the app, we store your message, account identifier, app version, and device platform so we can triage feedback and follow up when appropriate.
Device storage
The app keeps session and preference data on your device (for example to stay signed in until you log out) using the platform's secure storage APIs where available.
Product analytics
When configured for a build, we use PostHog to understand how the app is used: for example sign-in and sign-up events, which screens you open, teacher list interactions, searches (we avoid sending raw search text; we may send coarse metadata such as whether a query was used and its length), and when you submit reviews or requests. When you are signed in, PostHog may receive a stable user identifier and your email address so events can be grouped to your account. PostHog may operate in the United States or other regions depending on project settings. Analytics can be turned off for a build via our configuration; when disabled, those events are not sent. See PostHog's privacy policy.
How we use information
We use the data described above to provide and improve Kampus Connect, secure accounts, prevent abuse, communicate with you about the product, comply with law, and resolve disputes.
Sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf to run the app (currently including Supabase for authentication and data storage, and PostHog for optional product analytics as described). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the service.
Retention
We retain information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the service, and as required by law or legitimate business needs (such as backups and security logs). You may request deletion of your account or certain data subject to legal exceptions; deleting your account may remove or anonymize associated profile and app content according to our technical and legal constraints.
Your choices
You can adjust what you share by editing your profile, review anonymity choices, and optional submissions. You may contact us to ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
Security and location of processing
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the service. Our processors may store or process information in the United States and other countries where they operate, which may have different data protection rules than your country of residence.
Children's privacy
Kampus Connect is intended for enrolled higher-education students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
